Community takes the plunge at skydiving to raise vital funds for local women
July 30, 2024

On Sunday, 28th July 2024, seven women, each with their own personal reasons and connections to Feathers Futures, a local women’s charity, took to the skies at Beccles Air Field. This exhilarating event saw the women take the plunge from thousands of feet in the air, all in the name of raising vital funds for the charity. So far, over £3,500 has been raised, and the total is yet to be calculated as donations are still coming in.

Sandra, Feathers House Manager : “Thank you to everyone who made the leap for Feathers Futures, donated, and came to watch. There were over 100 friends, family, Feathers Futures staff, volunteers and women who came to support the jump which is incredible. Your generosity and support will positively impact women’s lives across Great Yarmouth. We couldn’t do it without passionate supporters like you.”

Emma Jarvis, the owner of The Hair Base, Gorleston, which has proudly adopted Feathers Futures as their charity of the year, shared her enthusiasm about the event: “We are incredibly proud to support Feathers Futures and proud of my staff member Adel for taking the plunge to raise funds. This event has not only raised crucial funds but also heightened awareness about the important work Feathers Futures does in our community.”

Feathers Futures provides a safe space for women to come together and support each other. It provides a range of courses and groups, these include social groups ranging from cookery to crafternooons; specialist support through domestic abuse recovery courses to individual counselling sessions; drop-ins and a busy toiletries bank for anyone in the community who is struggling to afford period products or toiletries.

A dedicated team of staff and volunteers are available Monday to Friday to support anyone who walks through the doors of Feathers House needing support. Feathers House is open and available to any woman who lives in the local area.
